No! The Power usage is only 280 watt, which is comparable to the freezer in your home.
Example of power usage: at 77°F (25°C) room temperature, and chiller temperature set at 46°F (8°C) will consume around 1.4-1.8 kWh per day (every 24 hours). With todays average kWh in the USA costing $0.35, that is just around $0.5 at per day in electricity cost to run The Pod Chiller 24/7. (These are estimates and can vary depending on the climate and temperatures where you live).
Yes. The chiller can easily be used with your current Ice Pod or even any form of other ice bath.
Connect to your existing IcePod: you simply connect the hose entering the water filter side of the chiller to the drain valve on your IcePod. And the second hose coming from the chiller pump goes into the IcePod over the top ring (see picture illustration in the product gallery).
Connect to any other Ice Bath:
You can also connect the chiller to any ice bath, bathtub, bucket - you name it. The chiller comes with pump and filter, so you simply put both hoses from the chiller into any body of water to start cooling it.

Both chillers can keep it at that temperature with minimal power consumption as it works on thermostat, which only turns on once every hour, to sustain the selected water temperature, resulting is minimal power consumption.
We recommend starting out at around 59°F (15°C) if it's your first time, and then slowly lowering the temperature and duration for each session. That way your body will get acclimated to the cold.
We recommend setting the chiller temperature to 46°F (8°C) or above, as this will ease the power consumption & load on the chiller.

We recommend cleaning the water filter attached to the chiller once a month. Simply take it out and rinse it with a brush and tap water.

How much ice do i need to add?
We recommend adding 15-40lbs (7-18kg) of ice to the Ice Pod per session depending on the initial water temperature. The amount of ice needed highly depends on your tap water temperature, the climate you live in, and how cold you desire it to be. If you live in colder climates, adding ice may not even be needed.
Since the pod is insulated it will keep the water cold for longer, and you may therefore not have to add as much ice after the first time.

What temperature do you recommend?
We recommend starting out with your ice bath tub temperature at around 59° Fahrenheit (15°C) if it's your first time, and then slowly lowering the temperature and duration for each session. That way your body will get acclimated to the cold.
How long should each ice bath session be?
To get the health benefits, you'll need to stay in cold water below 59° Fahrenheit (15°C) for three to eight minutes. Cold water therapy works best with the right combination of time and temperature. Each individual is different and some people can tolerate lower temperatures.
How do i drain the Ice Pod?
The Ice Pod comes with a tap at the bottom for draining. To drain it, connect a standard garden hose or simply open the tap depending on where the pod is set up.
Does it include a cover?
Yes. both the standard and Pro Ice Pod includes a waterproof cover to keep the water clean.
We also offer an insulated lid that will keep the water cold for longer.
How often should I clean/empty The Ice Pod?
To keep the water clean for long periods of time, we recommend adding either salt or hydrogen peroxide to the water. You can buy hydrogen peroxide almost anywhere online, just google it. For the salt solution, simply buy raw sea salt, or epsom salt and add around 1 pound (0.5kg) to a full pod. You can keep the water in the pod for 2-4 weeks when using salt. With no use of salt to disinfect we recommend changing the water every 3-5 sessions.
Can The Ice Pod be set up outside?
Yes! We engineered the pod to be weather and UV resistant, so you can set it up Inside or outside, even in temperatures below freezing. The insulation layer makes the water turn to ice a lot slower, but we still recommend to stir the water at least once a day to keep the water from freezing completely solid.

So far so good - still trying to figure out the most economical way to cool it down without getting a chiller since I won’t need that in the winter. The 6 ice blocks don’t make a dent in the 126 gallon long pod. Additionally, if you use it every day, the water probably won’t last 5-6 weeks or you need to use more water stabilizer. My water was gross after 1 week and I shower before each plunge.

At first I didn't put Teflon tape on all of the threads and air was getting into the filter compartment somehow. So the water would only be an inch or so above the bottom. I took everything apart and redid all the connections with Teflon tape and now the water sits near the top. It cools down really well, I haven't even set it to the lowest temperature yet. I did buy an ozone generator that I drop in and run for about 30 minutes after I get out to help keep it sanitary.

My suggestion for the sauna would to put a chair that is taller because the good heat rises and, for me it takes a while for the hottest heat to get to my full body!

I’m 6’1 and I have a hard time standing up because the chair is so low and replaced it with a bar stool and that works much better. Wish it would get hotter in the morning but I’m still learning about how the outdoor temperature effects on high it will go. After reading the synopsis of the recent 20 year Finish study regarding sauna time and reduced mortality and morbidity - we knew we had to get ourselves a sauna! We have neither the room nor the finances for a large, wooden structure (3 kids in college - they eat up both space and money) so I started the search for the perfect portable sauna.
I looked at steam, infrared and dry heat (aka The Pod). It came down to infrared v. dry and frankly the reviews of The Pod won us over.
We found a space, put it together and have enjoyed a few sessions. I will say - we goofed when putting it together and cannot get the zipper all the way closed (we’ll fix that this weekend) so we can’t get up to 185° yet. We still sweat a bit but can’t wait to max it out.
I feel great after a session. I leave my phone outside - this is ME time. I just sit back, relax and let the toxins go. I haven’t put in the time to swear to faster recovery times but my son is a lifter (benches 315, box squats 695, etc) he says he feels much better after a sauna session.
It’s early on and the jury is still out but I think it’s the best anniversary gift my husband and I have ever invested in (and it’s the 29th gift!).

Love it! I already have the sauna pod and wanted to complete my recovery setup. It’s so easy to put together, durable, and well made. I didn’t get the chiller but the ice blocks work great!! Definitely recommend!

Added the Ultra Insulated Cover Set and immediately noticed the difference in water temp. If you live in a warm climate most of the year, I’d highly recommend you invest in this extra insulation. I love that the cover fits perfectly and can latch and cinch down tighter, forming a better seal. The wrap-around midsection is easy/straightforward and fits snug with the Velcro. Great product for keeping your water temp lower for longer.
